2025: Gas prices go up and people suffer at the pump, especially SUV and truck drivers.

Nicholas Sakha’s (@nicksakha) new Ford Raptor takes forever to fill up, and the price is going up fast.

Mr Sakha is known on social media for his videos about insurance, but recently he decided to film filling up his tank and his reaction when it crossed the $100 mark.

He posted it on his TikTok account on 1 February. It’s already been watched over 720,000 times!

Putting the pain of the price at the pump in perspective

As Sakha’s video says, “Buy a truck, I’m told,” just like in Die Hard.

“POV: The first time you put gas in your new truck,” reads the screen as he fills the tank.

Sakha smiles as he fills the tank of his Raptor, but looks nervously at the pump as the price continues to rise. When the price hits $71 with only 15 gallons in the tank, the smile fades.

Sad music starts as the dollars keep climbing.

With 123 dollars and 26 gallons in the tank, she starts to cry fake tears.

“Stop,” he begs as the pump continues to run.

In the end, he fills the tank with almost 30 gallons, spending a whopping $137.34.

How much does a Ford Raptor fuel?

By the end of the month, petrol will set you back about $3.11 per gallon. This price can vary depending on the gas station.

These prices can be high, especially if you drive a fuel-efficient car.

According to Car and Driver, the 2024 F-150 Raptor Raptor gets an estimated 14 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway. The Raptor R V-8 model is even more fuel-efficient, with an estimated 10 mpg city and 15 mpg highway. (Via)

According to U.S. News, the most fuel-efficient non-electric, non-hybrid trucks get between 18 and 23 mpg in the city and between 20 and 29 mpg on the highway. (Via)

So, the Raptor is a great gas guzzler.

So, will gas prices keep going up in 2025?

It’s still early days, but one thing’s for sure: the new tariffs Trump put on Canada will have an effect on gasoline prices in 2025.

CNN said that “Tariffs on products imported from Canada will cost Americans 15 cents per gallon of gasoline or more. (Via)

On top of that, the price at the pump is going to go up because of these tariffs.

The tariffs have been put on hold for now, but they could cause more problems for the domestic energy market than tariffs on imports from Mexico and could mess up the president’s plan to lower energy costs, according to Barclays analyst Amarpreet Singh, who spoke to Reuters. (Via) (Via)

Spectators pay the price

“Here the Tundra has a 38-gallon tank. You learn to fill it half full so it lasts longer,” said another pickup owner.

Another said he pays close to $140 for gas, which would last him all month.
