Coca-Cola hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumours, but they’ve got Latino communities pretty riled up.
Back in 2025, there was a boycott of Coca-Cola because of rumours that they used ICE against their staff and fired people.
Now, there are people on social media trying to raise awareness about what Coca-Cola’s done and suggesting other brands, especially Pepsi, because people who used to drink Coca-Cola say they “betrayed” them.
It all started because Coca-Cola supported Donald Trump, who has imposed steep tariffs on Mexican products and gotten more immigrants arrested and deported. It’s unclear if the rumours of Coca-Cola firing and reporting employees to ICE are true, but that hasn’t stopped some Latino communities from calling for a boycott of Coca-Cola on social media.
The Coca-Cola boycott and the Latino Freeze 2025 movement
Back in early February, people started posting on social media about which companies had given Trump money and shut down DCI programmes and other stuff that supported the president. This led to the “Latino Freeze Movement,” which is all about boycotting these companies. (Via)
Starbucks, McDonald’s, Walmart, Amazon, Costco and Coca-Cola are just a few of the companies involved.

Open Secrets is a database that tracks how much money companies give to politicians, and it says that Coca-Cola donated $14,717 to Trump and $50,000 to Make America Great Again Inc in 2024, as well as $51,463 to the Republican National Committee. That same year, it also donated $87,246 to Kamala Harris. They’ve been supporting candidates since 1990. (Via)
But with Trump’s policies against immigrants and ethnic and gender identities, everyone started supporting the boycott, and the noise got even louder when it was revealed that a Texas factory had laid off over a thousand Latino workers (according to food and beverage company Mui Kitchen) and even reported some of them to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Lately, on TikTok and Instagram, it’s all about comparing shelves full of Coca-Cola products with shelves that are bare of Pepsi, and saying they’re going to boycott the brand.
Hey, have you heard about this rumour going around about Coca-Cola and ICE?
Apparently, they’ve been using ICE to detain their employees, but nothing’s been confirmed yet. This rumour’s been doing the rounds online for a few days now, but Coca-Cola’s been quiet about it and no one’s said for sure if they’ve been expelled or detained at a bottling plant.
The company would be well advised to act quickly as rumours are spreading from TikTok to Instagram, X, Reddit and beyond.Pepsi is apparently gaining thousands of new followers as former Coke fans say they are moving on.
“Apparently Coke fired immigrants and called ICE, and now it’s being boycotted from America to Mexico and even Ireland,” says X user @mamachell. “And I remember back during segregation, it was PEPSI advertising for blacks and putting them in their commercials.” (Via)

So, @Tropicxs_media has started a campaign called “Team Pepsi” and they’re encouraging Latinos to boycott Coke because they don’t support their workers when it comes to deportation, which is in contrast to Pepsi’s approach. (Via)

So, has Coca-Cola and Taylor Swift fallen out?
It looks like a boycott is bringing an old rumour back into the spotlight. The rumour was that Coca-Cola and Swift feuded over her endorsement of Harris in September 2024. But verifiers have confirmed that this is a myth. It actually all started on a satirical Facebook page called “SpaceX Fanclub”.
PolitiFact says the page claimed that Coca-Cola had ditched Swift because her support for Harris went against the brand’s values of unity and neutrality. This made people wonder if it was true, especially since celebrities often support political candidates and it would be really dumb for a company to get involved with Swift. (Via)
Hey, have you heard of Coca-Cola? It turns out that some social media accounts are still sharing old rumours that have already been debunked, as well as new ones. This is really frustrating consumers!
