@sste.ph/Tiktok;

I don’t think what they say is free.

When someone offers you something for free (and it isn’t), what do you do?

A T-Mobile customer says an employee offered her a free screensaver, but it wasn’t free and she was charged nearly $200.

In two videos, user Stephany (@sste.ph) shows how they applied the screensaver to her iPad and how much they charged her bill afterward. The videos have been watched more than 4 million times on TikTok.

“Stephany asks the T-Mobile employee why it’s different as they rub the liquid protective film on the surface of her new iPad.

The 36-second video shows just the employee installing the protective film, with no further discussion other than the sign asking if the film will peel off or break. (Via)

In a later video, Stephany says she was charged three times for the film, even though the employee told her he would give it to her for free. (Via)

“I was charged three times when I was told it was free,” she says in the video.

“Forty-five dollars, three times. If T-Mobile tells you ‘it’s free,’ it’s not free. It can’t be.”

She says that people who told her to check her account to make sure it was free showed her how much she was being charged.

“If it wasn’t for you guys, I would have no idea,” she says. “The total was $179, which was crazy.

Hey, have you ever had to replace a device with a big, pricey screen?

If so, you might already be familiar with the idea of a standard plastic protective film that covers the screen. You know the type: it usually contains air bubbles and prevents dirt, debris and fingerprints from getting into the screen.

Well, liquid protective films are on another level. They protect even more. They’re highly resistant to drops, scratches and other accidents that could crack the screen.

They absorb and disperse the impact that breaks the screen of the device underneath. (Via)

Liquid protective films are made of liquid silicon dioxide that is applied directly to the device’s screen, creating a protective surface similar to that of a glass screen protector. (Via)

So, how do they work?

Liquid screen protectors are basically liquid that you apply as a layer on top. The bottom layer protects the screen from scratches, dirt and even cracks, and it doesn’t leave any air bubbles behind. You can even use them on curved screens. (Via)

They can last up to two years, and you can take them off whenever you want using a solvent that the manufacturer provides. (Via)

Nothing is free”.

Several viewers warned that anything described as “free” in a shop should be questioned.

“I’ve worked in a phone shop and I can assure you that NOTHING is free,” wrote one commenter. “Phones cost $200 and they sell them for $500 with ‘free accessories’. Ask for all receipts.”

“The ‘free’ items are always listed on your bill,” another commenter confirmed. “Sometimes in odd increments, like $3.50.

“Also, don’t believe it when they say ‘free’ or in other words, ‘on us,'” wrote one commenter.”
