Another cause for concern.

A woman has become an internet sensation on TikTok for suggesting that people should bring toilet paper with them when visiting public toilets.Cynthia Dixon (@angelstouch5) filmed herself in a public restroom. She wore gloves and took a roll of toilet paper out of the dispenser.’Let me teach you something about using public restrooms,’ she said. She took the toilet paper out of the dispenser and showed it to him, saying that people often use it on their ‘private parts’. But taking toilet paper out of the dispenser doesn’t prove it’s dirty. To prove this, he removed the entire roll from the dispenser. On the sides of the roll were strange green marks.

“This is what’s on the outside of the toilet paper,” Dixon said, adding that it could be “blood” or “urine.”

“It could be whatever somebody put there and you can’t see it,” he added.

He advises viewers to bring their own wet wipes, either toilet paper or baby wipes, and he repeats this advice in the video’s caption.

“Be careful when using the restroom, especially with wipes. Public restrooms are not sanitized and their products are not safe,” he wrote.Dixon’s video has been viewed more than 525,000 times. (Via)

There is no proof that this happens often.

A journalist from the New York Post has said that sometimes there are bodily fluids on toilet paper. In a YouTube video from 2024, the journalist shows a roll of toilet paper with red blood stains on the side. (Via)

He said this was not due to a bloody nose or a minor accident. He says it was probably caused by someone rubbing their own dirty needles on the roll.

Although a doctor later denied the journalist’s claims, it is true that these paper rollers can get dirty. (Via)

Dixon said that the rolls can be torn and people can stain them with any substance. We don’t know how often this happens.

Should you carry wet wipes?

If you were alarmed by Dixon’s video or similar content, don’t feel embarrassed about taking wet wipes with you. Just make sure you buy wipes that you can throw away when you’re done with them, because most of them aren’t.

According to Nice ‘N CLEAN, you can tell whether a baby wipe is disposable or not by looking at the packaging. Most brands of baby wipes contain plastic. (Via)

Wipes that are advertised as disposable can also be dangerous. For example, standard disposable wipes may only be disposed of one at a time or two at a time.

Viewers express fear of public toilets

Many viewers have commented on Dixon’s video that they are even more afraid of going to the toilet in public now.

One person said, “I was already scared of toilets, but now I’m even more scared.”

“This is just another thing to be afraid of,” added another.

One viewer said they thought they were doing the right thing by washing their hands a lot, but now they don’t know if that’s true.

Others have said they will never use public toilets again.

One woman joked, “At this point, I’ll get my own toilet.”

Another said she would “pee” all the way home.

“This is why I don’t use public restrooms,” said a third user. “I hate taking my daughters out for a walk and having to go to the toilet; it annoys me to know they have to wait for them.”

Many people plan to follow Nixon’s advice and carry their own handkerchiefs when in public.

One woman said, ‘I wear handkerchiefs.’

Another said, “You don’t have to worry about me.” “From now on I will wear my own handkerchiefs”.

A third said they always wear their own handkerchiefs.
